How do I OTA update a Chinese-version EV imported from China?
Your car will not get the update by itself. The OEM cloud only pushes OTA packages to VINs registered in China, so a parallel-import or Chinese-version car abroad stays on old firmware. We fix that remotely: an OEM engineer connects through an ENET cable and your Windows PC and flashes the VIN-matched update with the factory tool.
Why does this happen to imported Chinese EVs?
OTA on a Chinese EV is not a public download. The car asks the manufacturer’s server for a package matched to its VIN, region and current version. Once the VIN has been exported, or the SIM in the telematics box no longer reaches a Chinese carrier, that request never succeeds. Nothing is broken; the car is simply not on the list any more.
Dealers outside China cannot help. They have no login to the Chinese-market backend, and the export-market software is a different build that does not fit a China-spec car. The update has to be pulled by someone with OEM access and pushed to the car through the diagnostic port.
What happens in the remote session?
We read the VIN’s current software versions and the target release, and confirm there is an update path for a Chinese-market car in your country before quoting.
You plug the ENET cable into the OBD-II port, connect it to a Windows PC running EV Fix Connector, and put the car on a charger.
The engineer opens a session with the OEM programming tool, downloads the package built for your VIN and flashes it controller by controller.
The car reboots, the engineer verifies every version and clears any codes raised during the flash, and you receive a report with the release notes.
