How do I clear a permanent warning lamp on an imported Chinese EV?
The lamp usually comes from a module that only works in China, typically the telematics box or 4G modem. Abroad it cannot reach its server, logs a lost-communication code such as U0198 on every drive, and the warning stays on. An OEM engineer codes that module out of the gateway configuration remotely, so the lamp clears while every real fault check keeps running.
Why does this happen to imported Chinese EVs?
A Chinese-spec car expects a Chinese carrier, Chinese map servers and a Chinese account backend. When those never answer, the controllers that depend on them report lost communication. Clearing the codes with a scan tool does nothing; they return within minutes because the condition is still true.
The fix is the same configuration change a dealer would make for a car built without that module: tell the gateway and the affected controllers it is not fitted. Other diagnostics are untouched, so a genuine fault later still shows.
What happens in the remote session?
You send a photo of the warning and any codes you have; we confirm the module involved and quote.
Cable in, EV Fix Connector open, engineer connected. The engineer reads all controllers to be sure no second fault is hiding behind the lamp.
The engineer codes the absent module out of the gateway and dependent controllers, then clears the stored codes.
A drive cycle confirms the lamp stays off; you get a report listing exactly what was changed.
