How can I program a new key for a Chinese EV when there is no dealer in my country?

Key programming on a Chinese EV needs an authenticated login to the manufacturer’s security server, which local locksmiths and generic key tools do not have. An OEM engineer authorises the new smart key or NFC card remotely through an ENET cable and your Windows PC, adds it to the car and revokes lost keys in the same session.

01 Why it happens

Why does this happen to imported Chinese EVs?

Since 2020 most Chinese EVs protect key learning with an online challenge from the OEM. Without that response the car simply ignores a new key, however genuine. This is why imported cars often arrive with a single key and no way to add a second.

The engineer has the login and the tool. You hold the new key in the car. The whole exchange runs over the diagnostic port, so it works anywhere the car and a laptop can meet.

02 The session

What happens in the remote session?

  1. You tell us the model and how many keys you have; we confirm the key type and quote, and can ship a key if you need one.

  2. Cable in, engineer connected, the new key inside the car.

  3. The engineer authenticates against the OEM security server, adds the key or card, and removes any keys you no longer have.

  4. You test lock, unlock and start on every key; report issued.

03 Questions

What else do owners ask about this?

Where do I get the key itself?

Any genuine key for your exact model works. We can supply one with the booking, or you can buy one locally; send us its part number so we can check it before the session.

I have no working key at all. Is that possible?

Often yes, if the car can be powered and the diagnostic port is reachable. It takes longer because the engineer has to authenticate without an existing key; we quote it separately.
